We had heard about charitable trusts but we thought that only those with a lot of money to invest could establish such a trust, with the aid of a lot of lawyers and people who understand finance much better than we do. We see ourselves as simple people who have worked hard all our lives and enjoyed some success. With the money that we have made, we wanted at least some of it to go towards the less fortunate. Than meant when we discovered that we could set up a fairly modest charitable trust, and the cost of appointing a trustee would not be too prohibitive, we decided to go for it. Now we have a trust in our own names that contributes to the local hospital, and we even have a plaque on the wall to prove it.
