Until just a few months ago if someone had asked me about offshore banking I would have thought it was something that was only carried out by extremely wealthy individuals who had a huge number of assets to protect, and also had a large amount of money which they needed to keep in offshore financial jurisdictions. However, after doing a little bit of research I found that having an offshore savings account was nothing particularly special, and is a type of account that can be opened by almost anyone as long as they fit certain criteria. It was fine for me to open an offshore savings account, and so I went ahead and did it with a bank in a well-known financial jurisdiction. I am really glad that I did the research and just wish I had done it sooner.
