To much spam with loan offers.

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

I've been getting a lot of spam telling me my loan has already been pre-approved. Let's make one thing clear - no reputable lender will pre-approve a loan without knowing your personal circumstances and details intimately, in order to calculate the risk. But there are plenty of crooks around who will go to any length to grab as much information as possible from you.

What Types of Majors Can I Pursue With Student Education Loans?

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

As long as you are enrolling in an accredited university, you can pursue any course of study that they offer.  Among other things, if you want to pursue a fine arts degree, you will receive the same student education loan,  funding opportunities as someone studying for a degree in business or the sciences.  That said, you should still exercise some caution in choosing your degree field.  Unfortunately, you will find that some courses of study will not give you much chance to obtain a good job unless you go for graduate studies.  At the same time, delayed entry into the job market can have enormous consequences.  As an example, you may also find that workers with seniority will still be able to prevent you from advancing into better paying positions.

An offshore saving account was a good decision

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Until just a few months ago if someone had asked me about offshore banking I would have thought it was something that was only carried out by extremely wealthy individuals who had a huge number of assets to protect, and also had a large amount of money which they needed to keep in offshore financial jurisdictions. However, after doing a little bit of research I found that having an offshore savings account was nothing particularly special, and is a type of account that can be opened by almost anyone as long as they fit certain criteria. It was fine for me to open an offshore savings account, and so I went ahead and did it with a bank in a well-known financial jurisdiction. I am really glad that I did the research and just wish I had done it sooner.

Who Invented Credit Scoring?

Monday, July 7th, 2008

After getting my credit score (654), I am curious as to who invented credit scoring. Does anyone out there know? Wikipedia gives the history of the Fair Isaac Corporation, but not the history of the business itself. Fair and Isaac apparently started in the mid 50’s so it has been around for almost 60 years at least. Another thing I wonder is what led them to pick the seemingly arbitrary numbers 300 and 850 as the upper and lower limits of the fair isaac credit score range respectively. If anyone has in depth knowledge of this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading!

stock investment advice

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Every investment you make with your money carries a degree of risk, but there are certain investments that have the least amount of risk out there. A blue chip stock is a stock that has a demonstrated history of earning money and avoiding rapid changes in value over a long period of time. Support and resistance are measured by the volume over the price. Each time the stock reaches to the low of 17 dollars, A large amount of stock is bought by the crowds. No matter how long a company has been considered blue chip, there is always the chance that things could end badly. First step is to wait for the stock to reach for the one side of the canal. Even energy stocks, long considered the most stable of all, aren't immune to rapid price changes. The secret to staying on top of what companies are solid blue chip investments is simply staying current on the world of finance. Put stop loss limit to the extreme prices a bit above 20 in the higher side, or a bit below the 16 price. By the time it reaches close to the other side of the canal, tighten your stop. It is possible to beat the world of investing at its own game, but it isn't easy, and it takes a degree of dedication that many people aren't willing to put forth.
