LandAmerica 1031 Exchange Services No Longer In Business

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

On November 28, 2008, landamerica 1031 exchange services (LES) company announced that it is ceasing operations. In a letter to customers, the company said that it is closing its doors after investment losses in now illiquid auction rate securities. “LES has long invested 1031 deposits only in Investment Grade Securities Rated A or stronger, including auction rate securities backed by federally guaranteed student loans. Our goal for the exchange funds has been to maintain the full liquidity necessary to meet customer withdrawal demands. The auction rate securities in our exchange funds, which were sold to us by certain financial institutions, were highly liquid for many years.”

With the pending Recession upon us worldwide, what factors do we consider the most important to reduce impact?

Saturday, October 31st, 2009
recession
YouandYourLife asked:

Are people the main key to reducing Recession impact? Are the answers solely economic based as politicians and business leaders want us to believe, or is there something more deeper and meaningful than just politicians and economists playing around with interest rates and money markets. The world has become obsessed with wealth and greed and so this is possibly a “correction” to address imbalances in world economies.
Maybe this is no different to how Nature reacts when mankind interferes to much with the natural causes of laws of the universe and attraction.

Any ideas on how we collectively will pull through the current situation?
Only genuine answers please.

Clifford

Has the economic recession affected the number of illegal immigrants coming to the US?

Monday, October 26th, 2009
recession
James H asked:

I have noticed before the recession hit there was a news story almost nightly on how illegal immigrants were coming into the United States. Now it seems like I hear very little about illegal immigration. What gives?
I’m thinking even the jobs the illegals were working at are drying up because unemployment is so high right now. That is there whole incentive for coming to America is to find work. If there are no jobs they probably are not coming here anymore.

Wondering About 90% Junk Silver Coins

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

I’ve recently become interested in 90% Junk Silver Coins.
I’d like to get exposure to silver, and it turns out old silver coins are a great way to do it.
I’ve been researching silver Morgan dollars for a while, now, and I think it’s time to take action, before precious metal prices go even higher.
With the rate the national debit is growing, inflation is inevitable. These coins are a great protection against it.
Maybe your comments will help settle it.

Holly S asked:

Ok…I’m kind of worried about the economy. So how is the recession going to affect Canada? Would we actually go into a Depression? Or is it just another Recession that will recover? And how long would this last?

How does a recession and depression effect the possibility leasing a home?

Sunday, October 11th, 2009
recession
Michelle asked:

A trusted financial adviser friend of ours says he and several of his colleagues expect the economy be in recession for at least another year and then possibly a depression for ten years. Given this scenario, would the price of leasing a home increase or decrease, and at which point?
So in a market slump is it better to own a home or lease?

I remember hearing that the definition of recession is something like 3 successive quarters of negative growth. Well why is that such a big problem? How much will that effect us?

How will Republicans spin the coming recession to make it the Democrats fault?

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Zardoz asked:

Will Republicans take responsibilty for the recession?
Bernanke says addition rate cuts may well be necessary, but he says the economy is ok. Is it part of his job to lie?
