Lamont T asked: I would like to buy stocks and need layman terms on how to go about it properly. I get the idea, but can someone tell me about selling the stocks after time. Also how do you buy mutual funds and whats the benefits of the buying them. How do you make money at it.

Janet asked: I only have $500 in my mutual funds, but since the economy is poor should I take it out? I am worried the funds will get lower, but I was hoping it would return to normal soon. I am no expert though and was wondering if I should just take whatever I have left in there out or just leave it in my account? I need to have a $400 minimum in my account otherwise I will be charged and I would like to avoid that. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

She She asked: I have some money in mutual funds and I have several. One is a core bond fund and I don’t have the rest of the information handy. Right now I am down quite a bit and I am scared! Should I sell or just hold tight? I don’t need the money, yet and I probably won’t unless I decide to get a new car. What do you think?

ecebalos asked: I understand stocks and load fees but the trading times/prices on mutual funds I don’t quite understand. I know your purchase goes through after hours, but do you get the price that it is listed as when you put in your order or the price that it goes up to after hours? For example if the fund is listed at $50 a share now (what it traded at last night?) and I put in an order before the market closes. Tomorrow the price shows $60 a share, so did I buy at $50 or $60? Any advice appreciated. Thanks
Gail

Bruce Tzu asked: I understand mutual funds very well but have little experience with ETFs so do I need to learn about them? Does it provide more control from a tax stand point? More variety in investing options?

vsdbk asked: I am considering online trading and would prefer starting off buying and selling mutual funds (to reduce my risk) rather than investing in stocks - before I get familiar and confident with trading.
Is there a particular Online Trading Platform that is best suited for trading Mutual Funds?
Thanks.
