I've always been a tightwad and miser, saved to buy big ticket items with cash and prefer to save over spending. That being said, I am saving even more and have put off buying a new car to preserve my cash position. I used to keep a 6 month emergency reserve and now think we need a year at least of living expenses saved up because everything is so uncertain.

I've not been impacted. But I've been changing my habits to start using more cash instead of credit.

It hasn't affected us much.

We've always been avid craigslisters so we are able to have certain things we wouldn't be able to afford retail.

Me and my husband already were careful with our spending habits even before the recession, but even more so now. There are times when we go grocery shopping and have to think about, "do we really NEED this?" Sometimes we have to break up our list in twos. We buy a few fruits and vegetables one week, and a few others a couple of weeks later. Things are kind of tough for us, but we have a roof over our head, which is more than enough. In terms of food, we've gone a few days without having full groceries and survive on just water, bread, fruits and vegetables.

We try our best to buy items on sale and to buy generic brands. We hardly ever go out to eat anymore, not as much as we used to anyways.
