The charitable lead trusts should be set up early. The person that gives the trust sets aside the money or donates the money (sometimes property) to another person while they are still alive. Then after the donator passes away, the other person can start receiving the funds or property. For this reason, you can set up these charitable trusts early and make certain that your family is well taken care of while you are still alive and able to add more to it. Also, the earlier you set it up the better that it will grow while you are still living.
